Dear Friends,
Mark Duthoit
We were all shocked and saddened by the death of our much-loved member Mark Duthoit in December and have been waiting for the funeral date to be confirmed. There have been various delays but the service will take place on Wednesday 21 February 12.30pm here at the church. Everyone is invited – if you can make it do come along to support Mark’s family and be praying for them in this time of grief.
Evangelism
It was a real joy to hear from Mark and Fiona Gilpin on Wednesday night as we started the Dasel Course with them. I was delighted that a good number of us were able to make it and I personally think we are so blessed to have this opportunity to reflect on what evangelism really is, as it has become something of a problem word for many.
Earlier in the week I was able to attend Fresh Streams, an annual leadership conference with other Baptist Ministers. There I met up with my old friend Karl Relton, who is himself an Evangelist. He’s recently been writing a blog, ‘Myths of Evangelism’ which ties in nicely with Dasel. It is definitely worth a read and you can access it here: https://mythsofevangelism.blogspot.com/
Sunday 10 March
We look forward to having David and Denise Flynn with us, sharing on a mission mobilisation theme and also about their ministry to the Deaf in Bolivia but also here in the UK.
Equipping Day – 16th March
In March 2023 we had a wonderful weekend with Janice Pleasants and a team from Eastgate Church. This year we look forward to Saturday 16 March 10am-4pm when another Eastgate team will be with us for a day, this time led by the lovely Ross Hardy. Do come along; it will be a blessing (more info will follow). They will also be with us to share in the Sunday morning service.
Holy Spirit
At the start of 2024 I asked God what was on his heart for me. I felt him say simply, ‘Holy Spirit’. That was it. On 28 January I am looking forward to preaching on ‘The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit’ as we finish the series on ‘The Grace’ - am hoping to be able share a bit more then!
God bless,
Dan
